The Position of AGL

Brothers of the Oswego District: Several years ago while attending Grand Lodge a number of brothers from the our district were having dinner and the subject of the recently vacant AGL's position came up. Someone in the group suggested that I might like to give it some consideration. I was caught completely off guard by the proposal but then Jim Howard, a brother for whom I have enormous respect, said that being AGL was more fun than any other district position he had held. That pretty much clinched it for me and I must say that it has been a lot of fun.

The Oswego District will be needing at least one new AGL starting in May. It is a position that I highly recommend to any brother who has a strong interest in Freemasonry and the Ritual which has been the foundation for our craft for centuries. It will encourage you to get out, enjoy the fellowship of your brothers and if you are so inclined, can provide a first step on the rounds that lead to fame in our mystic circle.

To be a successful AGL, you don't have to have all the answers or perfect recall of the ritual. You do need to have the desire and curiosity to dig into it that you might help your brothers to perform the ritual as well as they are able. You will not be the ritual-police but a ritual coach and I guarantee that you will find your Masonic experience vastly enriched. You will not be alone. There are a wealth of people and resources to help you with your job.

So, any of you who think you might be interested please feel free to contact me and I will fill you in on the details. Should you be appointed, I will be more than willing to help you be successful during your term.
